There’s about 4 or 5 really stellar 3rd party apps on the Mac, Reeder is one of those. So well designed and thought out. Thank you.

This app does exactly every thing I want it to. The only complaints by other I have found is a supposed lack of support. As I have had NO PROBLEMS with the app, I wouldn’t know about that. Love the app.
Decent app for RSS feeds but it needs some work. The app doesn’t really sync after a set period of time. When I wake my macbook up from sleep and bring up the app, I have to manually sync it. And usually, it says “syncing” but it doesn’t actually do anything. I have to sync it twice before it finally updates my feeds. Needs better video support. YouTube videos get stuck, so I have to open any page with a video in a browser if I want to watch it. Also, the “mark as read” button is a tiny checkmark at the bottom of the screen. Should be more than one option to mark all items in a feed as read. Update - latest update says that youtube playback is fixed… well the whole video plays fine as long as you leave it small. Try and put it full screen and the video goes nuts. It gets choppy, the audio gets out of sync, and the program becomes unresponsive. Still needs work.
I was a NetNewsWire user for many years. I finally needed a replacement for the aging workhorse. I had tried Reeder 1 briefly, but it just didn’t feel right. Reeder 2 has much more polish. Only quibble is, I’d like a bigger/smaller text right-click option.
Reader 2 is by far the best RSS reader for Mac and iOS. I won’t repeat what others have said except the one thing I wish it did correctly. When sharing an article to twitter the share sheet shows an image, however the image does not share to twitter. SEO relies heavily on images in twitter and other social networks. Please fix this Reader and I will easily give 5 stars.
I use news readers as for data mining. So I need fast access to my feeds. Reed 2 has all the bells and whisles but is a memory hog. I have 12gb and I am always forcing it to quit since it always stops responding. Support does not provide support. So if you need a app that can only run with no more then 2 processes, this one is for you. Update 5/18 Reeder still crashes or stops responding 90% of the time. Interface is great. Just slow, and crashes daily
Reeder 2 is superfast and with its themes, looks as great as always. Unfortunately, I require a little more from my RSS reader than beauty. Reeder 2’s sharing services for the most part remain unchanged from two years ago. MarsEdit is a welcome addition to its sharing services, but where is the share to Omnifocus? Create Calendar Events or Remiders would also be powerful additions. If you want to do any serious sharing of articles, be prepared to share it to Safari first, then share from Safari to Omnifocus, Tweetbot, etc. While it is probably the best Mac RSS reader, that is not saying much. It seriously lags behind the power of iOS apps like Mr.Reader and Fiery Feeds. It gets regular updates to fix bugs but the developer does not offer you support (e-mail, twitter, etc. you will be ignored). I hope to see more sharing services added in the future that would indeed make this a 5 star app.
Finally, a FAST, responsive Mac Client that works with NewsBlur. YES! It doesn’t get hung up when syncing (like all the others), and it’s blazingly fast. Needs support for opening links in other browsers than default.
It worked beautiful, looked beautiful, was just the best app for reading blogs until…it just stopped working. I had to uninstall and am now being forced to pay again. I won’t. I’m not paying another 10 bucks for it. On the hunt now for something to replace it
Been using this app every day for years and it’s still rock solid, no problems, syncs perfectly with Feedly and it’s fast. (♥_♥) The iOS app is a great companion. Can’t wait for version 3.
1. Animated gifs play one or two frames and then stop. 2. Non-YouTube videos still don’t play (or even appear in the feed as playable videos). 3. The image cache must be constantly cleared in order for all the images to properly appear in the feed. It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the size or number of images in the cache, because I’ve had to clear it when the cache is 100+ MB and just as often when it’s under 5MB. These issues haven’t been fixed in the current version OR the upcoming Version 3. I tried going back to (the new) NetNewsReader, but it has its own issues. I still curse the day Google gave up on RSS.
Opening links in the background no longer works in OSX 10.11. If that’s fixed, then it’s definitely a five star app.
The 3.0 update refines a great product, much like the OS 10.11 release it coinsides with. Not only does it keep up with UI trends by taking font and styling cues from El Capitan, but it also addresses some of the small, niggling issues such as being able to see where a link is taking you before opening externally, and getting items already marked as read on other devices to download correctly for some accounts. The fact that this is a free update is just the icing on the cake. If you truly use RSS as your daily lifeline to the internet, you owe it to yourself to invest in a product to make that experience a great one. Reeder does that.
Loving the new update, it seems to give me more information on the screen yet feels more spacious then before— feels good to use. Nice to see an already great app get better
I seldom write reviews, but this update to Reeder is more than deserving of it. There isn’t a cleaner, elegantly simpler, or more refined RSS reader solution around - web or app, desktop or mobile - than Reeder 3. I have tried them all over the years and the latest version of this app is unmatched. The intutive flow, smooth transitions, clean UI, granularity of options, and robust set of themes really set this reader apart from some of the other fine choices for an experience that’s ideal for basic and power users alike. It’s clear as day that Silvio Rizzi cares about content consumption and the users he serves with what he has produced. However, while I gave it 5 stars I would give it 4.5 if I could, as there are a few issues that need to be worked out: (1) lack of integration with Pocket as a Read Later service (can add, but can’t view); (2) sizing of the title font of an article appears broken (requires restart to take effect in the case of some weights); (3) coming from another popular RSS reader app for Mac OS, I’ve grown accustomed to certain keybindings for shortcuts that Reeder 3 does not allow me to use: I prefer “A” to toggle read/unread and "Shift+A" to mark all read, but Shift is tied to the mark-all-read key which prevents it (these should only optionally be bound); (4) to control the size and busyness of the article list, I would like to be able to control how many lines of content display in the preview (0 to 2 or 3 seems reasonable); and lastly, (5) I would like to have the option to display a light border/divider between articles in the list view to better differentiate between them (without that aid for division I find the text to be somewhat disjointed and difficult to quickly visually separate). Minor blemishes in an otherwise flawless gem. Well done, Silvio!
This is an absolutely incredible news digest application for OS X. I love the interface, user-friendliness, and compatibility with news feed clients. I use mine with Feedbin, and it works great for my needs.
I’ve been using Reeder since the public beta and I love it. One bug I noticed is that when in full screen mode sometimes the refresh button doesn’t work & when it does it takes forever and gets stuck on the ‘syncing subscriptions’. Other then that its a great app. Please update the iPhone version :)
I was really happy to see a new version of Reeder. It is one of the most polished apps Ive used. I spend more time in Reeder than in the web browser every day. Syncing through feedly works really seamlessly. The current top review says that Reeder has ads. The reviewer must be confused: there have never been any ads in Reeder itself - only the ads the web sites put in pages and RSS feeds.
I’ve been using Reeder for years and was thrilled to get a new version. I use it with Feedbin service to sync feeds between devices. I have Reeder installed on multiple Macs, and the iOS version on multiple devices. Great app!
The App is great. But I think the User Interface in Split View needs an update. For example, It would be nice if I can close the two columns and left only with the article so that it takes the whole part of the screen. Other than that, It’s a really great app. Thanks!
