A week ago Reeder stopped working. I can’t add a feedly account - Login Failed, can’t refresh old account - nothing happend. So, it’s not clear why I have to pay for that.
Totally stopped working 3 days ago (doesn’t sync with Feedly). Reinstalling app didn’t help, and now I even can’t switch color theme.
Experiencing graphic issues since upgrading to Yosemite every time I move to next entry in my feed.
That’s great that you can mark favourite articles, but it would be perfect to be able to highlight there most interesting parts. Thank you!
The best RSS app for Mac is back!
Love the app, the functionalities and it’s design. Fifth star when it will actually remember the full screen option.
I’ve been using Reeder for a while now and really like the app. But about a month ago, my work laptop (running the same version of Mavericks as my personal one) stopped syncing with my Feedly account. The personal laptop and iOS devices (also running Reeder) worked fine. I finally got frustrated and bought Leaf yesterday. Leaf is also nice though there are a couple of things I’d like to see implemented there. Anyway, went to reach out to the devs of that app and found they had an FAQ about syncing with Feedly (problems). I was able to determine the Reeder version of the two files they suggested deleting (for Leaf, of course), and after restarting the system, Reeder syncing with Feedly on my work machine is…working again! (look for answer involving defaults and containers) I like both applications. It’s just ironic that I wound up having to get another to ultimately help me fix the issue I was having with the first.
I just purchased this app and within a few minutes ran into a problem. It was more of a user error than the software not working as intended. At any rate I was confused and stuck. I emailed the developer and was surprised to get a reply within about 15 minutes suggesting some troubleshooting steps. I was surprised because I had read quite a few other reviews claiming that this developer is awful at replying to emails. If he used to have problems replying promply and efficiently he seems to have stepped up his game. Either that or I just caught him on a good day. Regardless, I’m very satisfied with the money I spent.
I really loved Reeder 1 and still love the interface of this version. However, I really don’t like the ads that the developer injects on each page when it is in Readability mode (I now block that via Little Snitch). Also, I’ve written the developer and asked to have a preference added so you can set your default reading mode: Article preview or Readability. I’ve heard nothing back and the app hasn’t been updated. I’ve actually decided Leaf is a better reader and have jumped to that one (although I still prefer the Reeder GUI).
I have been using and paying for Reeder since it came out. I have contacted the dev many times regarding issues and bugs. Not once have I ever heard from him and the bugs either take for ever to get fix or aren’t ever fixed. That been said I think it’s time to look for an alternative.
I experienced some troubles with copies of Reeder running on my laptop and mini; it took a bit of effort to get the developer’s attention, but once I secured his assistance, we were able to solve both of my issues. I have been a long term customer, both for the OSX and iOS versions; other than this blip I have really enjoyed the features and usability of this app.
I’ve been using Reeder on iOS and Mac since each were 1.0 releases. They’ve always had quirks, but they were also always the best option so I stuck with them. Recently, the MAS version has simply stopped syncing with Feedly. No reason why. The iOS counterpart still syncs, but I can’t get the Mac client to sync at all. And I give up on trying to get help from the developer. I like the software, and I want to praise it, but it’s horribly broken.
I love this app when it works. But very often when I’m using the in-app browser to open a link, or click a link to open in Safari, it will crash. Very frustrating and the app hasn’t been updating very frequently.
Don’t expect ANY support if you buy this app, and as of now you cannot use it to access Feedly. Very disappointing. UPDATE: Still cannot log into Feedly with “update”.
I’ve tried quite a few RSS readers and this is, by far, the best! If you’re running Yosemite and are having problems with syncing your feeds, delete the app and re-install. That fixed the problem for me. One thing to be aware of is that developer support is nonexistent, so don’t bother trying to contact him. It’s a waste of time. Despite that, and having to solve my own issues running the app in Yosemite, I’m still giving it five stars.
I’ve been away from the Mac version of Reeder for a while (using mostly iOS & Windows devices), but this new version works well with Feedly and is an excellent desktop companion for the iOS versions of Reeder. I use NextGen reader on Windows, which is also very good, but Reeder is hands down my favorite RSS reader. Very happy that the developer is continuing to improve this app, it’s a gem.
Using this app was my iPhone also love it :-)
This is one of the reasons I upgraded my iMac so I could use it. ReadKit was fine but I like Reeder better. I only wish it would update in the background. I have to open and refresh to get new items.
Wow, this was a long time coming. Put in emails months ago for playback issue and never heard anything back. Used to love this app and the developer, but the lack of response and the extreme time in between updates has made me move to ReadKit as my go-to reader on the Mac. While it has some issues, at least it’s more consistent in performance. I have another issue with Reeder that I asked about over 6 months ago and never got a reply. When I view an article and then want to comment from within the app, I can’t type more than one letter. I disabled all shortcuts but I still can’t type comments. The only way is to open the article up in safari and then make comments. I comment a lot, so that’s very annoying. I don’t have that issue with ReadKit, so once again I think I will be sticking with that app. And that developer at least respond to issues given to them.
