Reeder 3 App Reviews

No OMPL import; no support

After reading all the positive reviews I was very excited to get Reeder. So I exported all my subscriptions from Digg … but an’t get to import them in Reeder as it won’t recongise the file. I tried contacting the « support » … no answers since more than a month. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, maybe there’s a bug … but there’s nobody on the other side to tell me which is which.

NOT for Power Users. Unfortunately, there aren’t alternatives, and Reeder’s developer knows it.

If you are looking for an RSS reader that does just the basics, crashes, doesn’t work great all of the time, and hasn’t received an update in nearly a year, congratulations, you have found it. Don’t look for any support from the developer. You will be ignored. This app is a prime example of what happens when there is no competition in the marketplace. In contrast to MacOS, iOS has two GREAT apps (Mr.Reader & FieryFeeds) for power users of RSS. So my advice is to use one of these on your mobile advice while you are sitting in front of your Mac.

Still the best RSS reader

Nice to have you back after soooo long. It works fine, just like the old one, but with more choice. Keep up the good work.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease for god sakes

Excellent app, great features and i thank so much the coder ... but sooooooooooooooooo frustrating at one point the full screen button in minimized mode doesn t work, it s a waste of time everytime, and there isn t any shortcut somewhere. Fix that problem please it takes only one day of coding, pleeeeeeeeeeease for god sakes !

It was about time ...

It took the developer quite a while to get reeder back on track, but it was definitely worth the wait.

Welcome back!

Thanks.

Best RSS-Reader

Beautiful and easy to use. Does not have as many features as Readkit, but right now every update brings a few… let´s see what the future brings. Since it does use Flash, you can´t fullsize embedded Youtube-clips f.e. It´d be nice if that works somehow in the future.

Great!

Simply the best! Add more styles please)

Developer doesn’t care for year old bugs.

This app is unusable when watching feeds/webpages with videos. It just massively lags, contrary to the statement of the developer, that this problem is fixed. nothing is fixed, just rubbish.

A good application, support is lacking

The application is worth the money, but the support is dreadful. No support email or feature request ever got responded. Tiny Tiny RSS reader support never got implemented though it was requested many times (and by many) and should be a feasible task because there is an API available. Sad.

Dismal keyboard UI, no reply to support emails

The keyboard UI of this app is pretty annoying. Keyboard Shortcuts randomly seize to work and there is no way to coherently navigate through all unread articles. No reply by support staff to emails. For the price of 10 EUR and judging by the good reviews id expected better.

Finally!!

It’s back! Thank god, not that feedly plug-in for safari wasn’t great and everything, but something about Reeder you can’t just walk away from. Thank you Silvio Rizzi for bringing it back nearly a year later. Still worth it though.

Sets the bar...

Simple, clean & efficient... ...A perfect meshing of form & function. Essential.

Hurray! Reeder Returns

Best RSS reader I have ever used, both for iOS and OS X. Not to be missed. Wonderful interface, quick and lightwieght. Excelent use of control pad gestures, synchs to several services and provides a number of nice user customer UI customizations. The only thing I think is missing, is tabbed browsing in Reeder itself. Impliment that and you’ll have 5 stars!

Never leave me again!

Oh, kaloo, kalay! After suffering through what seems like years using subpar and ill thought through Mac news readers, Reeder returns all growed up and better than ever. A bargain at $10, especially if you’re using the iOS app, it is deceptively simple and fun to use. As a heavy trackpad user, the gesture support is particularly good, and makes going through your feed quickly a breeze, with fast ways to home in on items that you want to spend more time on. Integrates wonderfully with Feedbin.

My Dilemma Solved

Reeder v1.x for Mac disappeared when Google Reader was discontinued. When Reeder v2.x was finally announced my dilemma was whether or not I should abandon another excellent news reader or just stick with it. I elected to go for Reeder 2 and Im glad I did, the smooth, clean performance feels just right. Is it $10 better? Absolutely!

The app is good, but the treatment to old customers is horrible.

OK. This is not about the app quality but rather about the pricing. I bought the Reeder for mac, for iPad and for iPhone and later on, I was forced to buy them again in a not too far distance. Sure, the app is rewritten and the author made a lot of efforts. I respect that and this is why I bought them again. But I do feel that pay for the same app twice within a year is not pleaseant at all.

buggy

No longer king of the hill on OS X. Look elsewhere till the author irons out the bugs.

Thanks Silvio.

During the dry period after GReader died I was using web interfaces for RSS readers and missed Reeder like crazy. It is just clean and efficient and the layout and hotkeys all make sense (or can be edited). I really appreciate the dark theme too, for long reading white text on a dark background is much easier. Can’t live without it.

Great reader, but has YouTube streaming issue

In general, this is a great app and I tend to agree with the other reviews. However, embedded YouTube videos stall out after a few seconds, requiring me to view them in the browser. Hopefully theyll fix this, in which case Id give the app 5 stars.
